After Cloud – Always There

After Cloud helps you to retain your rich family history!

Like many great ideas, the light bulb moment for After Cloud happened during a family conversation following the death of a much-loved grandmother. The family realised that although they had photos, they didn’t know all the stories behind them and in fact, there was very little in terms of digital content to represent her life.

The After Cloud Moments app, helps people with life limiting conditions to capture individual moments. They can create letters, record audio, add images and video content that can be shared in a closed group setting. The app also has a function where future posts can be scheduled to be sent to family or friends after you’ve gone.

Here is a brief insight – Arthur Rank Hospice

Darren Evans, founder of After Cloud, explains “With my background in Health and Social Care technology provision, following my mother in law’s death, I started talking to people across the industry and realised that there are lots of clinical systems out there, but nothing that was patient centred or for the family members, that offered this sort of application for life enrichment and legacy work. And that’s where it started, we wanted to give people the opportunity to capture moments with various media types and to celebrate life.

The ‘Moments’ App enables users to capture individual moments as multiple content. For example, they can write or dictate letters, which is also great for journaling. They can upload or take in-app images and video and they can record audio in-app, so great for scrapbooking or storytelling or embellishing a photo album with a wider narrative. All of that combined can create a moment and they can also future post privately and securely.”

Carers, practitioners, and therapists in aged care are now using the app as a supporting digital tool for life enrichment activities and other supporting services, in areas like art therapy, dance therapy, fitness, music therapy, reminiscence therapy, so that moments can be shared in a closed group with family members privately and securely.

“While the pandemic has been harsh for so many, it’s made people think about their own mortality and what they will leave behind. One positive that has come out of lockdown is the ability to speak to people all over the world using zoom, so that After Cloud’s advisory board is now made up of notable esteemed industry experts from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, USA and here in the UK. It’s wonderful to have such global support.

AFTER CLOUD

Excitement as we now have two commercially available apps for partners

We are passionate about ensuring that an individual’s life story is told and that their rich family history is not lost or forgotten.

We have also therefore since developed an app that creates a digital timeline enabling users to create specific moments in chronological order that represents their life story, which then publishes to a web page and generates a unique QR code, it’s really going to change the way people are remembered, it’s genealogy of the future applied in real time or as I like to say, a rich multimedia Wikipedia style platform for everyone. It’s essentially the dash of the future and is called After Cloud Timelines”

This is where we believe it will create great additional value for funeral directors and will be of huge benefit for related services, as everyone with a Timeline will have a story to tell and their unique QR code can be embedded onto memorials for future generations to look back at. Timelines also works retrospectively and can therefore also be applied in remembrance.

We already have many established grief and bereavement partners who are applying this into their practice to aide an individuals grief journey.

It is also exciting to report that After Cloud won the listeners vote in the UK Health Radio Awards back in July 2021 – Dementia Support category, an amazing achievement for an app that was still in Beta development at the time.”

After Cloud was also recently shortlisted as a finalist in the Digital Leaders HealthTech Innovation of the Year Awards 2021.

We are also involved in various ‘healthy ageing’ research projects incorporating active golf, dementia gardens and allotments and friendly spaces for PLWD encompassing both qualitative and quantitative studies.

Both services are available at – www.aftercloud.co.uk and to download on the App Store.
