Hope Street Casting Studio

Hope street Bodycasting studio is situated on the iconic Hope Street in the heart of the city centre, between the city’s two famous cathedrals.

The area is steeped with history and surrounded by bustling restaurants and theatres so why not make your casting session a day to remember!

The owner of Hope Street bodycasting studio is Ang Donoghue, whose vision from the start was to provide a very unique and personal experience that could be enjoyed by all the family.

How it works

A casting mould is taken from any part of the body (usually hands, sometimes feet, occasionally other places) and when finished, become a unique piece of fine art life – a very luxurious centrepiece filled with love and sentiment.

Most of our sculptures are single one-time pieces but they can also be ‘integrated’, that is joined together with other casts to create larger, family sculptures. Sensitive to the needs of her clients, Ang has created a place of joy where families come to preserve memories of their loved ones that can be cherished forever.

Ang is warm, kind, generous and passionate about getting it right. Her attention to detail shows exquisitely in her work, and in the testimonials she regularly receives.

Ang told us “My memorial service is constructed purely from a psychological perspective having studied loss and bereavement whilst undertaking a degree in psychology, it’s aimed to support the loss and grieving process of losing a loved by capturing and preserving memories in a 3-dimensional representation. The standout feature of life casts is their high level of realism detailing features as small as fingerprints and pores.”

Working with the deceased

From working with old people to babies, it has been a natural transition to want to serve the bereaved, by taking casts of the person they have lost. With the co-operation of many funeral directors, Ang has managed to create lasting, wonderful legacies for those grieving. What an incredible thing to be able to do.

The next step on Ang’s journey is to train funeral directors and end-of-life carers to be able to take the casting themselves. It isn’t difficult and Ang is keen to help train those who want to offer this service to their clients.
