Poems by Kate Quartermaine

Recently our sister magazine More to Life came across a very gifted dowser and spiritual teacher, Kate Quartermaine. Within Kate’s latest book ‘Even Buddhas Have Bad Days’ there are a series of poems that we filt appropriate to share with farewells’ readers.

GENTLY

Gently, gently, come to peace now
Come to peace, no need for fright
Dearest one, do not be scared now
Your soul’s weary, and near ready
To come back home, back to the light.

Softly, softly, now come forward
Feel the calling, feel the power
Feel the love that draws you onward
T ‘wards this most important moment
This destined time, this sacred hour.

Leave friends and family behind here
Earth’s desires and business too
Time to move on, you are done here
None may follow, only you may
Take this journey, only you.

Let go all your pain and suffering
Lightly leave this life behind
Love will greet you, everlasting
Peace and beauty you will find.

TOO BUSY TO DIE

HUMAN BEING
Death’s come calling round my way
But I’m far too busy to die today
I’ve much to do, I need to stay
Begone death, begone I say
I’m far too busy to die today.

DEATH
I gave you threescore years and ten
The allotted span for mortal men
When you begged for more another ten
I think this was a fair bargain
And yet you ask and ask again.

But Death I’m just not ready yet
To leave this life without regret
I need more time so I can get
My life in order, clear my debt
And then I’ll leave with no upset.

I’m sorry but this is the time
It’s plain in your soul’s own timeline
With this plan you must align
The glass is empty, gone life’s wine
Now is the end of this lifetime.

But Death, just give me one more spring
Please death let this be my choosing
A little time to keep living
To savour life, to savour being.
One summer more before leaving

That you know I cannot do
To your souls plan we must stay true
All was agreed, and your soul knew
That this last time your life was due
To end, and death must now ensue.

I cannot go, I’ve too much fear
Of losing all that I hold dear
And now that you’re so very near
I fear a judgement, bleak and drear
I cannot see the pathway clear.

I see you think you’re all alone
You do not know you’re coming home
There’s no more need this earth to roam
Why stay with all your lessons done
Love is calling you, now come.

With one last easy outward breath
Now pass the portal into death
Love is coming, it won’t take long
For you to find where you belong.

THE JOURNEY HOME
There’s a journey that we all must take
The one that takes us home
Back to the place where we come from
And all must leave alone.

Some people find it easy
A blessing and release
They’re happy to go home again
To go and find their peace.

Some people find it difficult
It’s not so easy done
They’ve guilt and fear of punishment
This journey they will shun.

For some it’s hard to find the way
They do not know it’s there
Denial, doubt and ignorance
Will keep them unaware.

Some people do not want to go
They’ve liked it too much here
Attachments to the lives they’ve led
Can bind them to this sphere.

Sometimes our own beloved ones
Just cannot let us be
Their need to keep us close to them
Will hinder our flying free.

So when it’s time for you to go
To take that journey home
Remember it’s where you come from
Know you won’t be alone.

 Angels, guides and helpers wait
To assist you on your way
All you do is ask for help
All you do is pray.

Fear not judgement, fear not loss
Fear not more worldly pain
Step forward to the guiding light
And you’ll be home again.
